Angina

Nothing can scare people as much as chest pain. Am I having a heart attack? Chest pain is a warning sign. You need to report it to the doctor, immediately, if it doesn't go away with rest. If it does lessen, you still need to let your doctor know so that they can investigate the cause. When there is a lack of blood supply to the heart, there is not enough oxygen for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. This is what causes angina, which is commonly referred to as chest pains.

This lack of blood supply can be due to exercise, when the heart has to pump very fast and needs more oxygen. There are different types of angina. Angina is a common symptom of coronary artery disease (CAD), but angina can also be caused by heart valve problems. Talk to your doctor if you think you are experiencing symptoms of angina.

To diagnose angina, your doctor will evaluate what might have triggered your chest pains and may order a stress test to see how well your heart is working. There are different methods to treat or prevent angina, such as taking medications and making lifestyle changes. It is important to work with your doctor to find the best treatment for you.
