Congestive heart failure

Congestive heart failure is a heart condition where the muscles in the heart weaken, causing blood to collect in the chambers of the heart. There are many different health problems that can cause poor blood supply to the heart, which can lead to serious heart complications, such as congestive heart failure (CHF). For example, high blood pressure stiffens the heart muscle so it cannot receive the blood returning from the body and lungs. High cholesterol can also harden and damage blood vessels, which puts stress on the heart muscle, too.

There are noticeable symptoms of congestive heart failure, which you should pay attention to. The symptoms will be different depending on which side (the left or the right) of the heart fails. As soon as you notice symptoms of congestive heart failure, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible.

As the disease progresses, it severely restricts your ability to exercise and even carry out daily activities. This heart condition is commonly treated with CHF medications. Talk to your doctor about which medications may work best for you.
